The 5 songs I'm listening to this week and why. 11/8/20 - 11/14/20

  1. Kodak Black - “Skrilla”

There are a lot of songs where you gotta be a Kodak fan to really really enjoy. Being a Kodak fan is like a little club and most of the people in the club are from Florida haha. I was introduced to Kodak by my Brother Tariq (@FamousRiqq on IG) who is from Florida so there you go. Anyways, this Kodak song is a SMASH!!!!! Likely this song came out before you ever heard of Kodak Black. Come back with me and enjoy.

  2. Rooga - “For Duck”

This is a song about and dedicated to Rooga’s real life cousin FBG Duck (RIP FBG Duck") and its so heartfelt. As a fan of music as a whole, all genres, I can say that a lot of Chicago rappers are actually trash. What I mean by that is those guys cannot rap. Rooga CAN RAP! I get it, people started kickin the door to music and making money so everyone jumped on it like I gotta get in the booth. Just because their lives were real, doesn’t mean their music was good. I grew up in Northern Virginia playing sports. All my friends were not and are not good at sports. It’s not a diss, it’s a fact. I’ll like going to the club with one homie but I won’t pick him in a pick up game cause his game is trash. Stay off the court lol. Rooga has real talent with music. If this is your first song by him, go back and listen to his catalog. What I also like is the access to these guys, like you can watch Rooga interviews and his live’s on instagram as well as Duck. I’m just a fan and I don’t choose sides on beef as I am not a gang member. I like the music. Rooga’s music is dope.

  3. Best Coast - “Feeling OK”

We are humans and we all go through a range of emotions every day. I like all music. If you’ve been following my lists, you know you get all type of different genres. Sometimes you need to feel ok and and rock out. I love Best Coast for this. Check em out.

  4. Roy Orbison - “Crying”

Who hasn’t cried before? I swear I’ve lived an entire lifetimes worth of crying. Sad time happen and sometimes you don’t wanna feel better. Sometimes you wanna feel the hurt, you wanna feel the pain. Sometimes you just wanna cry. This is a good song for that. A lot of people can only see the highlights of my life and not the pain. I’ve lost everything, multiple times. Pain can be a good catalyst for positive change.

  5. Mac Dre - “Be About Your Doe” remix (Feat. Cognito)

I got into Mac Dre while I was in prison. Some people had all his cd’s and they weren’t edited either. In Oregon prisons, the music used to be unedited and then at some point they only sold edited versions. Maybe the cussing and subject matter would rile the inmates I don’t know. I like this version because Cognito is dope on this song. I like the original too, they are actually back to back on my playlists but to me this one is better.
