17th of May🇳🇴

The 17th of May is a celebration of the Norwegian Constitution. This declared Norway an independent country after a union with Sweden that followed a 400 year union with Denmark. The Constitution was signed on the 17th of May, 1814, although Norway didn’t gain true independence until 1905.

Today is my second celebration. My first was three years ago in 2019 in Oslo. Before coming to Norway I had never heard of any of this stuff. I had never even been to Europe! Here’s a short funny story about how I learned about all of this.
